1000 Genomesinternationalgenome.org
The 1000 Genomes Project ran between 2008 and 2015, creating the largest public catalogue of human variation and genotype data.
49 datasets
Biology has some of the largest and longest-running public data archives. For sequences and genomes there are 1000 Genomes, Ensembl Genomes, the Sequence Read Archive and UCSC Public Data. Gene expression lives in GEO and ArrayExpress, protein data in UniProt and the Protein Data Bank, and pathways in KEGG and the Gene Ontology. Microscopy sets include the Broad Bioimage Benchmark Collection, CytoImageNet, EMPIAR and the Cell Image Library.
For biodiversity the list includes the Catalogue of Life, NCBI Taxonomy, GloBI species interactions and iNaturalist observations, and Palmer Penguins is a small CC0 table built for teaching. Cancer resources such as COSMIC, GDSC and the NCI Genomic Data Commons appear as well. Serratus adds an analysis of 7.1 million RNA and DNA sequencing datasets aimed at mapping the diversity of RNA viruses.
Before downloading, check access tiers: many human genomic resources keep raw reads or germline variants under controlled access that needs an approved application, while summary data is open. Some databases, KEGG among them, have their own terms for commercial or bulk use. Expect domain formats such as FASTQ, BAM, VCF and PDB rather than CSV.
