Climate and weather data comes in two broad shapes: station observations, such as the European Climate Assessment & Dataset, the German Climate Data Center, KNMI and Brazil's INPE, and gridded products, such as WorldClim, the Copernicus Climate Data Store and NOAA's climate and real-time model datasets. The list also has the UEA climate data, NOAA's SURFRAD radiation network, Caravan for large-sample hydrology and city temperature series from FetchSeries.
Gridded data usually ships as NetCDF or GRIB, which need tools like xarray, CDO or Panoply rather than a spreadsheet. Several portals, including the Copernicus Climate Data Store, ask you to register for a free account first. Open-Meteo offers a keyless API, but free access is for non-commercial use. Check the time step (hourly, daily, monthly normals), the reference period behind any averages, and whether a station series has been homogenised before comparing trends.
